AIS: Asbestos minerals in schools

Posted by sat on Tue, 2015-11-17 08:32

This downloadable document is an ASSIST Information Sheet (AIS) concerning a potential asbestos hazard in schools.

Schools may have geological specimens of asbestos and/or specimens that potentially contain asbestos. Therefore, it is recommended that schools undertake a review of all mineral kits and geological specimens to check for the presence of asbestos.

This document contains information regarding minerals of concern that may be found in school mineral kits and collections, as well as recommendations for addressing the removal of these specimens.

We also provide a link to the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency website, which contains a safety alert developed by the Heads of Workplace Safety Authorities (HWSA) Imported Materials with Asbestos Working Group.
