Lab Rules

Our Science labs are also used for other subjects (eg Maths).
The question has been raised whether the laboratory rules (covered shoes, hair up ..) still apply when these non-Science based lessons are being taught.
Obviously, the no eating / drinking remains regardless of the class being taught in the lab. Please can you advise me.
