2-methylpropan-2-ol: My bottle of 2-methylpropan-2-ol has solidified.I purchased a 500mL bottle of 2-methylpropan-2-ol approximately 2 years ago. I'm pretty sure we used it last year and it was fine. However this year when we looked at it, it had solidified. The Chemistry teacher sat it in a warm water bath and was able to extract enough for his prac.
Curious as to why this happened? Is it still usable? Or should we dispose of it. Of course, if we dispose of this bottle, I am concerned that it will happen again. Students do not handle this chemical, it is only used in a demonstration by the teacher so I am confident there has been no contamination.
