Publication Date: February, 2014
Type of Resource: Lesson Plan

Includes full lesson plans for topic, support notes, worksheet and links to videos on YouTube.

The introduction to this lesson asks students to mind map their thoughts around existing theories of how the universe was created. The teacher can then facilitate discussion around the Big Bang Theory, followed up with two short captioned videos projected while students complete the accompanying worksheets.

An interactive timeline may also be projected onto a whiteboard to demonstrate the theory.

Additional Information

Allow up to 10 lessons to complete the full suite of tasks or hand pick those which suit your students best and interweave with planned lessons.

Videos are captioned for accessibility. Captions have benefits for all students, particularly those who are deaf or hearing impaired, speak English as an Additional Language/Dialect, struggling readers and those with learning disabilities.

This can also be tied to Year 10 chemistry through extension activities provided on “A world of atoms” and “Atoms—the inside story”, which are also a part of this activity.
