Making water drinkable
In this online interactive learning object, students examine mixtures, solvents, solutions and the effects of temperature on solubility and how this affects water quality.
Students examine a range of colloids such as sols, aerosols, gels, foams and emulsions and have opportunities to participate in a variety of activities including a ‘To Do’ hands-on activity nominated in each section.
This resource contains 4 sections that can be done individually or in conjunction with one another. The resource also explores the water cycle and how water is treated.
Scootle is a program developed by Education Services Australia and is freely available to Australian educators. Use of the site's resources requires logging in via your local education network or by registering directly with the Scootle website.
Most of this resource's activity is carried out online, however, there are opportunities for students to carry out investigations and solve problems.
This resource would work well in conjunction with units on the water cycle, desalination or recycled water.
This resource uses Flash technology and therefore won't work on the Apple iPad.
