Beginner's Guide to the Night Sky

Posted by sat on Thu, 2014-06-26 10:53

This online resource introduces young students to the night sky.

The resource can be used by students as a beginner's guide to the Australian night sky. They can access a number of interactive activities, take guided tours of the summer and winter night skies to find constellations and planets, learn about Australia’s first astronomers, find out about the phases of the Moon and what causes the seasons.

Students can also take the Night Sky Quiz and follow instructions to find the south celestial pole using the stars. They can also become amateur astronomers using the tools and tips page to explore the night sky.
