FEEDING RELATIONSHIPS
LEARNING
INTENTIONS
Science Understanding / Biological
sciences / Year 7
In this investigation, students explore and develop
models of food chains and food webs to represent
and analyse the flow of energy through ecosystems
and explore the impact of changing components
within these systems.
Learning Intentions
Students will be able to:
• recall that the Sun is the source of all energy in a community;
• describe the role of producers, consumers and decomposers
in a community;
• identify animals as being herbivores, carnivores or omnivores
from their usual diets;
• draw a simple food chain to show feeding relationships
between animals and plants;
• construct and interpret food webs to demonstrate
relationships in a community;
• describe how living things can cause changes to their
environment and impact other living things;
• collate and summarise data from different sources;
• communicate their ideas using scientific language and
appropriate representations.
How to use a CLE
The Science ASSIST project is supported by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training through the Mathematics and Science Participation Program.
