Science ASSIST is Australia's national online advisory service for Australian school science educators and technicians created by the Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) in consultation with Science Education Technicians Australia (SETA) and is managed and maintained by ASTA.
By using the Science ASSIST website, you are agreeing to be bound by the following terms and conditions (“Website Terms of Use”). The information on this site is provided with the objective of building the professional capabilities of teachers, technicians and other professionals associated with the delivery of practical activities in science education.
Science ASSIST reserves the right to send the official site contact periodic emails concerning changes to the site that might benefit or affect the subscriber.
Science ASSIST may modify these Terms of Use at any time. The modified terms and conditions will apply from the date they are published on the site. We recommend you bookmark this page and revisit regularly. If you do not agree to any of the modified terms you should stop using our site.
Your subscription
If you have a valid subscription to Science ASSIST, you must
- Agree that you will not share your username and password outside your school.
- Agree that you will not share the resources developed by Science ASSIST outside your school, unless they have the CC BY 4.0 notice.
If you suspect that someone outside your school knows your username and password, then you must notify us as soon as possible at [email protected]
We will assume that you wish to renew your membership in January each year unless you inform us otherwise.
Liability
Science ASSIST provides information for teachers and technicians involved in the teaching of science in Australian schools. While Science ASSIST does its best to update information on our website there may be occasions where the information is out of date. We also do not guarantee that the content on our website is free from errors or omissions.
Science ASSIST accepts no liability for any damages to individuals or property arising directly or indirectly from using the resources on this website. All content is provided in good faith and on the basis that readers will be responsible for making their own assessment of the matters discussed herein, and that they should verify all relevant representations, statements and information. Risk assessments and appropriate safety precautions must always be undertaken and are the sole responsibility of the user.

Science ASSIST contains links to third party websites that have information relevant to the resources that we have either curated or developed. We have provided them for information purposes only and believe that they are suitable for the Australian school science audience. All resources developed by Science ASSIST beyond 1 July 2020 remain the intellectual property of ASTA (unless indicated otherwise) and are protected by the Australian Copyright Act of 1968 (see https://www.legislation.gov.au/Series/C1968A00063).
While you have a valid subscription, you may download, use, copy and distribute information within your school, provided that you acknowledge Science ASSIST.

All resources developed by Science ASSIST prior to 1 July 2020 remain the intellectual property of ASTA (unless indicated otherwise) and are protected by the Australian Copyright Act of 1968.
All resources developed by Science ASSIST prior to 1 July 2020 can be used under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence unless indicated otherwise [Excluded Material].
Except in relation to Excluded Material this CC BY 4.0 licence allows you to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material;
- Use — for any purpose, even commercially;
provided you attribute ASTA as the source of the copyright material. ASTA requests attribution as: "From the Science ASSIST website: http://assist.asta.edu.au".
Excluded materials
The Science ASSIST, ASTA and SETA logos, other logos, trademark protected material and any reproductions from AS or AS/NZS Standard publications are not licensed under a CC BY licence and may not be used.
