Students use a custom-made wooden "car" and rubber bands to toss a small mass off the car. The car, resting on rollers, is propelled in the opposite direction.

Energy efficiency and renewable energy booklet

This online resource investigates energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The resource is a downloadable activity booklet aimed at about the Year 8 for Australian students; the resource is from a US site.

The resource book contains a crossword, a wordsearch, other puzzle sheets as well as answers to all puzzles, a glossary and a list of other related websites.

The booklet begins with an information page about energy literacy, energy efficiency and renewable energy forms.

Gravity video

This online resource looks at the effect of mass on gravity.

The resource is a short video from the ABC television show Catalyst about the effect of gravity on two objects of different mass and the popular misconceptions about this phenomenon.

The video shows interviews with various people who are shown a 5kg medicine ball and an ordinary basketball of the same size, but much lighter. They are asked which one will hit the ground first when dropped at the same time.
